About Us

Dharche Basic Hospital (धार्चे आधारभूत अस्पताल) is a primary healthcare facility located in Dharche Rural Municipality, Gorkha District, Gandaki Province, Nepal.

• Community outreach and health education.

Background & Establishment:

Dharche Basic Hospital was established to provide essential healthcare to the communities of Dharche and Chumnubri Rural Municipalities in northern Gorkha. The idea emerged after the 2015 earthquake (B.S. 2072) when a Swiss rescue pilot team witnessed the urgent need for medical services in the region.

Following reconstruction of health posts and schools in northern Gorkha, the need for a proper hospital became clear. In coordination with Dharche Rural Municipality, Earth-C-Air Switzerland initiated the hospital’s construction, implemented by Chya-Ya Nepal. Upon completion, Earth-C-Air Switzerland installed all surgical and medical equipment, and the hospital was officially handed over to the local government on 20th November 2024.

Staffing & Operations:

The hospital is currently functional in collaboration with the local government and Earth-C-Air Nepal (Switzerland) with 19 staff members:

• 8 staff (including 2 MBBS doctors) provided by Earth-C-Air
• 11 staff provided by the local government

Objectives of Dharche Basic Hospital:

1. Provide accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents.
2. Improve maternal and child health in the region.
3. Promote community awareness on health and hygiene.
4. Expand diagnostic, testing, and treatment facilities.
5. Enhance community health standards and prevent diseases.
6. Train local health workers through awareness and capacity-building programs.
7. Operate health camps in rural and remote areas.
8. Develop new health technologies and services, including telemedicine, in the future.
